Nicholas Schwitzer
Born in Shawano WI, and raised on the Menominee Reservation, Nicholas Schwitzer, a first-descendant Menominee, has been drawing ever since he could hold something to scribble with. Nicholas loved to tell stories and match them with artwork, so it's no surprise that by the age of 10 he had decided that he wanted to become a comic artist.
This passion led him to pursue a degree in Entertainment Design with a concentration in Comics and Sequential Arts and a minor in English Writing and Literature at the University of Wisconsin: Stout.
But the ride doesn't stop there. Nicholas also discovered other passions along the way, including making music and filmography. This led to him recording music with talented artists like Evan Siahaan and even preforming with renowned jazz artists like Eric Marienthal and Andy Martin. He's even arranged a few musical pieces himself.
He also has a couple of films under his belt. Through the College of Menominee Nation's Sustainable Development Institute, he was trained by Reynaldo Morales and Nathan Fregien. There, Nicholas did research, filming, and editing for three documentaries and was in a writer's room under Justin Eagle Gauthier to create a short film with Michael Begay. He also went on to help make a vlog series, film 360-degree Virtual Reality footage and audio for a joint project between CMN's SDI and The Pensylvania State University's Visualizing Forest Futures Project.
All in all, there's a lot stuff Nicholas Schwitzer likes to do.
